Frequently asked questions
Our members could want help with anything, from gardening to DIY, from technology to cleaning. Suffolk Circle Helpers help our members to do ordinary, everyday things.
Helpers use everyday skills and experience to help others in their community. Some Helpers are tradespeople or recently retired but we don't expect everyone to be a 'professional'. Don't worry that you won't have the skills to do a job - we'll always make sure that you are only asked to do something that you'll be able to do.
Most of our Helpers don't want paying, and do it because they want to help others in their community. We will, of course, cover your mileage and out-of-pocket expenses - please use the Expenses Claim Form to do this.
All helpers have a CRB Disclosure (Police Check) carried out. We also seek regular feedback from yourselves and our members, to make sure everything is going as it should.
There are no obligations on our Helpers. We'll make sure you are only asked to do as much as you are comfortable with. We work with both the Helper and the member to find a mutually convenient time for the job to be carried out. It's always up to you whether you choose to accept a job or not.
Our Helpers tell us that they like making a small difference to people's lives, and they enjoy using and sharing the skills and abilities they have. They also get to be part of an exciting and innovative organisation which values their contribution.
Please get in touch if you have any concerns, or there's something you're not clear about.
